Top 10 Reasons to Get Fit

I’m sure at least once in your life, someone has mentioned “You should exercise more.”  There are tons of reasons why you should…and here are mine.

1.)    To Feel Good: Why wouldn’t you want to feel good all the time? Exercise releases endorphins.  Endorphins are believed to relieve pain, enhance the immune system and to relieve stress.

2.)    Better Sex: I did a lot of research and I found this one to be usually near the bottom of peoples ‘Top Ten List’.  Sex is one of the best things that people can do.  I shouldn’t need to tell you this.  So why not set yourself up for a lifetime of excellent sex?  One benefit; it reduces erectile dysfunction.  Often erectile dysfunctions occur when there is low blood circulation which is generally a result of poor cardiovascular strength.  Forget exercising just for better health, exercising for a better sex life should motivate you enough.

3.)    To Look Good: I know it’s a little vain but let’s be honest; one of the biggest reasons why people   exercise is for self-image.  And why not?  An improved self-image increases confidence, self-esteem and overall reduces stress.

4.)    Healthier in General: Being active and healthy reduces sickness and boosts/maintain your immune system.  In particular, regular exercise will regulate your blood pressure and help reduce your chances of heart attacks, strokes and many other ailments.

5.)    Have more Self-Confidence: Completing a work-out feels great!  A mini-accomplishment in itself and as you progress and reach new goals, your confidence will grow more and more!

6.)    Have more Energy: As mentioned above, exercise releases those “feel-good” endorphins that not only make you feel great but boosts your energy for the day.

7.)    Reduces the Signs of Aging: It can reverse the natural decline of your metabolism.  Around the age of 30, we begin to lose about a ½ a pound of muscle per year which is replaced by fat.  Muscle burns more fat hence your body stays ‘firmer’ and looks younger!

8.)    Increase in Overall Strength: No-brainer here.

9.)    Alone time: We all need some alone time once in a while, so why not use that alone time at the gym.  Personally exercising helps me deal with my own stress.  No matter what troubles/issues I might have in my life, I find an hour at the gym can clear my mind and help reduce those anxieties.  I think Henry Rollins put it best, “I have found the Iron to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds is always two hundred pounds.”

10) Improved Mind: Exercise improves memory, concentration and cognitive abilities.  Studies have also found that exercise boosts blood flow to the brain area that is involved in memory.
