Whether you are using therapy bands to recover from injury or adding a new degree of difficulty to your lifting, bands provide a great deal of benefits to help you reach your fitness goals.

Resistance bands can be used for a comprehensive, full-body workout that challenges virtually every major muscle group in your body. Resistance bands work to strengthen and elongate the muscle fibres increasing your flexibility tremendously. Resistance bands provide the exerciser with constant tension on the muscle which is not possible with the use of dumbbells or barbells. This allows the exerciser to really focus on both the concentric (lifting portion) and eccentric (lowering portion) of the movement. This results in a completely new challenge for the muscles being worked.

With resistance bands, you can exercise isolated muscles without burdening tendons, joints and bones of the injured area. When you use resistance bands to exercise the injury-free parts of your body, you benefit from increased blood circulation, which assists with speeding up your recovery.

Resistance bands come in different lengths, thickness, and colour coded sets.  The thicker the band, the more resistance you will encounter.  Different lengths allow the user to address different muscles. The greater the stretching distance of the band while exercising, the greater the resistance load of the band.

It can be tied around the lower extremities of your legs to work all muscle groups of the lower half of the body from your core, hips, quadriceps, hamstrings and calves. They are also very useful for stretching all muscle groups. Using external objects, you can tie the band to work your upper body, where you can perform multiple repetitions. Ripcords Resistance Bands perform the same exercises as Super Bands, but with more resistance. These bands offer a bit more grip with the addition of secure handles. They also carry more weight. This is to work the bigger muscle groups with tougher repetitions.

There are also other considerations for the use of resistance bands, such as their low cost relative to pieces of fitness equipment.  They are also much easier to store and have virtually zero footprint which also makes them great for travelling.

With the versatility and cost of physical therapy bands, they are an excellent addition to just about anyone’s workout equipment!
